The Northern Hub
Northern hub call out arrangements are managed by the Forensic Services Department of Greater Manchester Police (GMP).
All forces in the North of England have been provided with the GMP pager service number. This should be used in order to evoke a call out when the situation is in alignment with the call out and submission criteria (hyperlink back to criteria page) If a request is made during 06.00 - 18.00, the Forensic Services Bureaux Manager will check the details of the request and ensure that it meets with the criteria for call out staff out at weekends.
If there is a requirement for trace evidence and fingerprint treatments to be undertaken on the exhibit, this must have been completed prior to submission to NABIS. GMP is not offering this service to other forces at present.
Once the Forensic Services Bureaux is satisfied that the examination needs to be undertaken and an urgent OCF check made, they will contact the Duty Firearms Expert and pass on the details of the requesting officer so that arrangements can be made.
If the request is made outside of the NABIS on-call times, the Forensic Services Bureaux Manager will take the details and agree a time the following morning when staff will be at the Hub to accept the exhibits. The Forensic Services Bureaux Manager will make contact with the Duty Firearms Expert the following morning so that the appointment time can be met.
For a period of time, one weekend in three, the NABIS Northern Hub will be providing weekend cover for the forces covered by the Central Hub. The same system will apply as per call-out in relation to northern forces.
