Police Appeal After Two Men Shot At In Mitcham

1st April 2015

Detectives from the Trident Gang Crime Command are appealing for witnesses after two males were shot at in Mitcham and a group of men armed with baseball bats were seen chasing a car.

They believe that the two incidents are connected. No one was injured.

At approximately 12:35hrs on Monday, 30 March police were called to reports of shots being fired in Bennetts Close, Mitcham.

Officers arrived and searched the area but the gunman had gone.

A witness described seeing a man enter from the park at the end of Bennetts Close and fire towards the two men before running back into the park.

Around ten minutes earlier, men armed with baseball bats had been seen chasing a silver people carrier down Tamworth Lane, Mitcham.

Detective Sergeant Jeremy Hooper, the investigating officer for the Trident Gang Crime Command, said:

"I'm appealing for the public's help to trace the gunman and the men seen chasing the people carried beforehand.

"Did you see either of these incidents? Maybe you saw the men with baseball bats before or after the incident took place. If so, please call me or Crimestoppers."

Please call DS Hooper on 020 8785 8580 or call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
