Birmingham Man Charged With Gun Possession

West Midlands Police has charged a man in connection with the discovery of three handguns plus hundreds of rounds of ammunition at a family home in Birmingham.

Officers forced entry to the address in Norton Crescent, Bordesley Green, at 6am on Tuesday 12 May, where 39-year-old Mohammed Sajad was detained.

It is alleged Sajad was in possession of a .38 Smith & Wesson revolver and two semi-automatic pistols, plus more than 500 bullets.

He was charged with three counts of possessing illegal firearms and ammunition and was due to appear in Birmingham Magistrates Court on 13 May.

Unemployed Sajad is also accused of possessing cocaine with intent to supply and two counts of child neglect. Our investigation into those matters continue.

A 31-year-old woman was also arrested at the address and has been bailed while enquiries progress.

The arrests - conducted by the Bordesley Green Neighbourhood Team alongside Force CID - come during a concerted drive by West Midlands Police targeting people with suspected links to firearms and drugs supply.
